Memories of Myra's restaurant and the stories of recipes being made at home.
One of the joys of creating this blog is to hear your stories of Myra's restaurant and the food you liked best. Just like gathering again at the restaurant for a good meal and chat among friends, I want this section to be dedicated to YOU—your memories of the past and the new memories you are creating as you make the recipes at home.
If you want to participate in this section send me an email at [email protected] with your story and any pictures you have. We like pictures here!

Mallory secretly figured out the [Cuban Style Flan] recipe over time by watching over Myra’s shoulder. We weren’t allowed to tell Myra that Mallory was a flan ninja. It’s a recipe worth becoming a ninja for. We’ve tried to recreate Myra’s flan over the years. Can’t wait to make this! Jennifer Alexander Metz

Gado Gado. My favorite! My hubby and I still make this all the time after discovering it in your restaurant many years ago! I made this and it was as fabulous as I remembered!

When I was in college and had zero money, I could occasionally feel like I had the ability to treat myself because a cup of soup was one dollar and fifty cents and there were so many choices! And my first pregnancy, for the first seven months, one of the only things I could eat was that avgolemono. It was such a comfort to me. I would have had it every day if I could have. And no other recipe seemed to have the same hit for me. Myra's was smooth and simple with the perfect combo of tang and salt. I went there when I was in labor and ate that soup, hummus, tabbouleh, and Gladys apple cake. The labor ended up being over 33 hours and hard, but that meal saw me through . So many memories of this place and how welcoming and warm it always was. I cannot wait to make all the things for my family. Thank you so much. This is a huge gift! Lisa Marie Vogt
We loved Myra’s so much. Our kids grew up going there. One time our son was about 5 and he spilled his drink on his pants and the server brought him a big bath towel and took his shorts and dried them while we ate outside. It was so sweet. We also miss the old days of New World, Wooden Shoe farm store, the original location of Clifton Market with the counter and the amazing vegetarian chili. Those were the early days of health food here and they were very special. The Nichols Family
This story from Kareem is a long one so we gave it a full page titled, Board Secrets!
I grew up in Cincy. My parents both worked at UC College of Medicine, so we spent a lot of time in Clifton. Myra's was a restaurant we liked, but it didn't achieve legendary status until I started med school at UC in 2005... read more
