Oatmeal burger with cheddar cheese on a bun, salad on the side

A vegetarian burger made with oats, cheddar cheese, sesame seeds and eggs

Equipment

  • 1 12 inch frying pan
  • 1 sharp knife and cutting board
  • 1 large bowl, for mixing ingredients

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 1 cup yellow onion, chopped fine
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/2 teas. poultry seasoning I use 1 TBLS fresh sage when I make these
  • 1 TBLS tamari or soy sauce
  • 3 eggs beaten
  • 2 to 3 TBLS vegetable oil

Instructions
 

  • Mix together all the ingredients and set the mixture aside for 30 minutes, so the oatmeal will soak up all the goodness.
  • Heat the oil in the skillet, medium heat, and add the 4 to 6 patties (depending on how big you want them) approximately 1/3 cup each.
  • Cook until brown on each side, 4 to 6 minutes, medium heat.
  • Serve with Dijonaise Sauce, lettuce, Tomato, on your favorite bun.

Notes

For the Dijonaise Sauce: 1/3 Dijon to 2/3 Mayonnaise. 
You can melt  a slice of cheese on top, or use your favorite Bar-B-Que sauce.
